About

Hi - I'm Maru! I'm a story artist, illustrator, and writer currently completing a Bachelor of Education at McGill University (graduating June 2027 - specializing in art education). I am from Tokyo, Japan and am primarily based there outside of my studies. 

I have served as a guest art director and cover artist, and have been involved in the McGill Drama Festival as a selected playwright for "Small Death" (2025) and "Bird VS. Duvall" (2026), as well as a co-director for "Hesperus, Phosphorus!" by Annika Pavlin (2025). Aside from creative work, I also coordinate theatre tech as a co-tech director.

 

I love to create work that's surreal and comedic; much of my art and writing comes from my love for animation, music, people, and storytelling. I enjoy working in creative spaces and collaborating with artists of all kinds!
